Andersen Windows
Andersen Windows Corporation is an American business that is privately owned. Their core competency is the manufacturing of quality windows for new construction and replacement windows as well. Andersen Windows was founded by Hans Andersen with the aid of his family in 1903 at Hudson Wisconsin. Initially they received their logs from the St. Croix River. The first windows rolled out in 1904 by mass production. Interestingly enough this was nine years before Ford started producing vehicles by assembly line. Currently the headquarters is located in Bayport Minnesota and employs over 10,000 workers across North America. Today the production of more than 12 million windows and doors is accomplished by 16 manufacturing facilities.
They have created and patented a structural composite of thermoplastics and bio-fibers which creates a superior building product that is strong; resist warping, and energy efficient. Fibrex is the trade name for this product which is used in their Renewal by Andersen (trade marked by Andersen Windows) division that is used in replacement windows for homes and other structures. Fibrex is a composite is formulated 40% wood and 60% thermoplastic resins.
Fibrex was created by Andersen Windows as a patented structural composite that combines attributes of thermoplastics and bio-fibers (wood). Although this product was created by Andersen Windows, it is its Renewal by Andersen division that produces windows with this material. This material is so superior to other building products that it is EnergyStar rated and Green Seal Certified. Additionally their products are also qualified for indoor air quality by Scientific Certification Systems.
